Makeup tutorial with great friend and talented makeup and style artist NINA MUA!!! There is a real art in applying makeup. As I gain more modeling experience I can really see the difference in quality among different MUAs (Make-up Artists). Nina is absolutely one of the best, not to mention the nicest MUAs I've ever worked with. The process she is demonstrating is not as simple as the time-lapse video may look. As with any process, the steps to get there dont often look close to the finished product ans with many amatuers these steps can be frustrating. I know when i look in the mirror half made-up it can be a pretty scary sight! the shading and contouring that follows is in an of itself an arrangement of darks and lights. Many subtle adjustments can be made in the shapes of shadows and subsequent highlights that can accentuate and even give the illusion of changing and evening out the bone structure of the face. Every face is slightly asymetrical and a the job of the MUA is to make it appear as symetrical as possible. This can even mean re-drawing an eyebrow! Hope you enjoy this candid video, more to come...

Nosi 6-year anniversary installation

I was asked to do an art installation for Nosi Music's 6-year anniversary party at the National Underground a few weekes ago.

The party was a huge success, great music, great people and vibe. The installation consisted of about a dozen butterfly wings painted with the the Nosi Music logo and slogan: "no requests". They were hung around the underground club with some green fabric shreds knotted and hung from the ceiling to simulate jungle vines and plants.
the wings looked especially cool under black light and I addes some pillar candles to amp up the jungly-voodoo vibe.

Finally, partygoers were allowed to interact with the piece by actually removing the wings and wearing them on their backs via some elastic bands I attached for this purpose.

This was a great project, looking forward to more!! More pics will be up soon, these are the best I have for now, in the meantime check out the music and artist on Nosi label here: http://www.nosimusic.com/
